Ladags (Ladakh) for me is not just a place where I was born. Ladakh is an extension of my consciousness because the values of my existence rise from this blessed land. From the various Himalayan kingdoms, in Ladakh we have been able to preserve our culture. Culture can inspire ethics in an age where money can inspire avarice. Though Ladakh, Lahaul and Spiti are different regions with different socio-economic landscapes, they share a historical and cultural connection in many ways.

Hence, our rewa (hope) from and for sum (three) different regions has one intention- sustaining culture.
Last year on Tibetan Losar we created Rewa Sum. The journey of sharing things about our culture with each other and the world has brought us rewa. We hope our initiative can bring rewa to the Trans-Himalayan regions and world.

A feeling that is mutual to every human being when in a new place is the rush that you get when you meet someone from the same cultural background. Ladakh, Spiti and Lahaul share a lot in common. Name is one of them.

In my first year one morning during assembly “Rinchen Angmo” was called for the assembly reading. I was so pleased to hear a known name. Later when I met her she told me about Sonam Chhomo.Three of us were from different regions but we shared a common cultural background.

Last year during Tibetian Losar we started our blog “Rewasum”.

Rewasum for us is a hope to preserve our culture.

We wanted to create a platform where along with embracing the beauty of our regions we can also recognize and celebrate the unknown and less celebrated things of our region.

It has been a year since we started our blog ‘Rewasum’. During Tibetan Losar 2020, we had started our blog and really it was the hope and purity of belief on preserving our culture that led us to continue our work even during the pandemic while sitting at completely disparate locations.
We have discussed this several times and now I will publicly announce our thought ‘Destiny may have brought us together’.

There is a slight possiblity that you could meet people from your city but this is rather unprobable in our cases where one from Lahaul, another from Spiti and the third from Ladakh are together in the same batch in the same college. Truly, sometimes I think (we think) that perhaps we were brought together for this reason to do the greater good, to preserve our culture!

In addition to our collective hope towards achieving cultural preservation, I think we also hoped to establish Rewasum as an eternal presence in the minds of readers!

Losar Tashi Delek! Tibetan New Year!
